STAIN

Our products come with an "open" oil base stain on them which satisfies most people. We use Cabot's Clear Solution cedar tone deck stain, a venerable old product. An "open" stain protects the wood from sun and rain while allowing the wood to breath. Application is quick and easy, and you do it when you want your furniture to look new agan. Many people covet the "weathered" look. In this case, simply do nothing.

The Cabot's open stain finish is no extra charge.

SEALERS

For those who desire a higher end finish, this is achieved through the use of a "sealer". We use Sikkens fine wood care products . Think of a sealer as a clear coat of paint. A sealed finish provides for color stability and really highlights the beauty of the wood. The high gloss finish lasts a few years and then may need a quick touch-up coat.

We add 20% to the price of an item for sealing. It takes three coats to do it properly.

COLORED STAINS

There are many types of oil and water baed stains on the market nowdays that are designed to impart color to wood, while allowing the wood grain to show through. They are available in many colors, but usually in subdued tones and flat finishes. They are an excellent choice for finishing your furniture. They provide a good look and good protection. Over the years, they just kind of fade away and are easily reworked in the future as needed. Cabot products again have really impressed us. Although, much like paint, there are more brands out there than we could ever get familiar with.

We would charge 15-20% of retail to apply this finish, depening on how many coats it takes. Custom finished like this couldn't be returned.

PAINT

Surely the widest range of colors and sheens comes from paint. Most everyone knows how to paint a little, so touch up is not a big problem and cleanup is a snap.

We charge 30% of retail to paint furniture. This includes a primer coat and two coats of paint, for a total of three coats.
