Maintaining the Amish outdoor furniture:
The furniture comes to us with a water based stain. ColoradoPicnicTables.com then lightly sands the top surfaces and puts on Cabot's Clear Solution (A translucent oil finish for decks, siding, fences and trim) 3002 or 9202 Cedar. This provides the furniture with a water repellant protection, just like you see on your deck.
To maintain the honeyteak look, once or twice a year (usually in the spring and then in mid-late summer) use a 60-80 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface. Shake the stain. Use gloves and a rag. Wipe on the stain where you sanded (where the sun and rain hit), wipe off the stain. You are good to go! |
